Episode 1: The Eight Feelings with Dr. Chip Dodd
In the first episode of the Emotional Health season, Gabe and Rebekah Lyons are joined by psychologist and expert counselor Chip Dodd, to learn about the 8 primary emotions-anger, hurt, fear, loneliness, sadness, shame, guilt, gladness, that we all experience. Together, we’ll learn how we experience these feelings, what they do when they come and how we can have a healthy response.
Episode 2: HURT: Dr. Chip Dodd
We all experience hurt in our lives, and how we respond to this feeling can lead to either resentment or freedom and healing. In this episode, Dr. Chip Dodd helps us understand how the feeling of hurt is a catalyst to all the other feelings. Understanding how to respond when hurt can change the trajectory of our closest to relationships. We’ll also hear from Danielle Strickland, author of The Other Side of Hope, on how to avoid the cynicism that can develop from hope and instead, allow hope to heal us from past hurt.
Episode 3: LONELY: Dr. Chip Dodd
Dr. Chip Dodd explores the feeling overwhelming our population, loneliness. In this episode, you will understand why God gives us this emotion and how it can be directed to seek deeper relationships with ourselves, others and God.
Episode 4: SAD: Dr. Chip Dodd
Sadness is the feeling that speaks to how much you value what is missed, what is gone and what is lost. Chip Dodd joins us again to breakdown the feeling of sadness, what it means to process it, and how we can learn to honor our sadness.
EPISODE 5: ANGER
Dr. Chip Dodd joins us to discuss how anger is the most important feeling we experience because it is the first step to authentic living and shows our yearning and hunger for life.
EPISODE 6: FEAR
Fear is the feeling that allows us to experience risk, trust, dependency, collaboration, and wisdom; it helps us realize our need for help. For many of us, fear equals weakness and makes us doubt and distrust one another. In our fear of feeling fear, we become fretful and overly controlling in any risk we take.
EPISODE 7: SHAME
Shame is the emotional and spiritual recognition of the potential to faith and to do harm and to love. Dr. Chip Dodd helps us understand how the feeling of shame can lead to conviction.
EPISODE 8: GUILT
Guilt is the emotional and spiritual gift that allows us to feel and accept that we’ve done something wrong. Guilt tells us that we have broken boundaries. In this episode, Dr. Chip Dodd joins us to help us understand what guild is and how we can be set free through this feeling.
EPISODE 9: GLADNESS
Gladness is not about being happy or getting what we want. Gladness is about having a deep desire and being willing to walk through pain in pursuit of this desire. Gladness comes because of our willingness to feel the other feelings: hurt, lonely, sad, anger, fear, shame, and guilt. In this episode, Gabe and Rebekah reflect on the feeling of gladness and where they’ve seen this in their lives.
