Family Lake Trip Teaches Us Resilience

Summer is wrapping up and we are feeling all of the feelings as we are getting ready to send Pierce and Kennedy off to college. Before they left we tried to get one more family outing in together and something amazing happened.

Cade has been eagerly trying to wake surf with Gabe for the past four years. Twenty attempts. Gabe and Cade get in the water, get set, struggle to push through the water and get up, and fail. But this time was different. Cade insisted on getting in and trying for the fourth year in a row. A few attempts went by and they were unable to get up but with one last try the finally got up, with Cade smiling from cheek to cheek (check out the video here).

Cade taught us all a lesson that day. He didn't give up, he persevered. Perseverance is a steady determination to choose to grow and learn from obstacles or difficult situations, some of which can last a lifetime.
